If we ever get reviewed/supported "public" interfaces they should come exclusively from some include/... directory; that'll be the time to switch to <...> syntax for any subsystem's own interfaces. Because of the way this register works you do not want to use the value returned to write the register, you always want to write the bits explicitly.
